With the growing number of digital garment patterns available there has also been a growth in the use of projectors to project digital patterns on to fabric. This saves on both paper and time as the patterns don’t have to be printed out and stuck together. To find out more about how you might use a projector to do visit the link below. .
Singer and fabric retailer JOANN have now jumped on board with the trend and created Ditto, a digital projector designed for home sewers. Ditto also has a library of patterns that can be customised to a user’s measurements (although it all comes at quite a hefty price tag). To find out more do an online search for 'Ditto JOANN'.

Aran knitted garments
#Knitting #Wool
Aran knitwear is a type of knitwear made from thick, wool yarns that originated in the Aran Islands, off the west coast of Ireland. The yarns are usually left natural in color and are traditionally used to make sweaters, hats, scarves, and other items of clothing. Aran knitwear is characterized by intricate patterns, often featuring cables, bobbles, and other textured stitches, which provide the items with a unique, rustic appearance. Traditionally items were made from unwashed wool which meant the natural lanolin oil stayed in the wool making it water resistant and therefore popular with farmers and fisherman. Aran sweaters and other products are now a common fashion item, such as the scarf in the image. Find out more about the history of aran knitwear at the link below.

Eco wash finish
#Stonewashing #denim
Jeanologia’s eco wash specialist processes and machines can be used to create a traditional stone washed effect on jeans but in a way that is more sustainable. Water use can be reduced by up to 80% and 60% of chemicals can also be eliminated. An average of 20 litres of water is used to create a traditional stonewash effect on denim but eco washes reduce this to just a glass of water. Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) software analyses water and energy consumption, chemical use and worker health and benchmarks the results against standard thresholds to ensure eco standards are maintained. Tesco’s F&F range use this information as a marketing tool on the inside of the pockets of their jeans.
