22ND APRIL 2024, 10AM - 4PM, NOTTINGHAM This is a 1 day face to face course designed for technicians working in an education setting (teachers can also attend). No previous experience is necessary. This course is run by Paul Boyd & Neil Coles. OUTCOMES * Understanding how to carry out basic servicing & maintenance on a sewing machine. * Consider common issues & problems when using sewing machines in education settings * Create a servicing & repair programme that uses funding in the most cost effective way. CONTENT * How to keep machines at maximum efficiency through simple regular checks.  * Get tips from experts on managing the use of machines in a busy education setting.  * Understand how thread and needle choices impact on the quality of stitch.  * Find out about key oiling and lubrication points that keep your machines running.  * Advice on creating a servicing and maintenance plan to reduce costs and workload.  * Learn how to use machines that don’t work to repair other machines.  * What to look for when investing in machines & making money from broken ones. * Considering health and safety issues when using & maintaining sewing machines * Risk assessment guidance on creating personalised risk assessment documents.  * Basic equipment & resources to get you started straight away (e.g. toolkit, videos, logs) Participants bring along a machine from their department which they will service (machines can be borrowed but this must be arranged beforehand and the brand and type of machine can't be guaranteed). IMPORTANT PLEASE READ The certificate provided on the course indicates attendance only. This course is not an accredited qualification course. Course content is only suitable to support participants to do basic servicing and maintenance of their own machines and it doesn’t qualify delegates to be able to teach others how to service and maintain machines, nor does it qualify participants to service and maintain machines for other people.
