Textile Artist & Maker Shop

Julie is a textiles specialist who enjoys working in a range of contexts from fashion to textile art. Her particular interest is hand embroidered textile art using both traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. Julie’s work challenges stereotypes of what textiles is and uses materials in ways that embrace traditions and innovation. She often uses traditional techniques applied to non-textiles materials, including embroidering onto wood, metal and functional items such as tea strainers  Her work encourages the viewer to reconsider how textiles materials can be used and how non textiles materials can be used in a textile context in unexpected ways.
