18th JUNE 2025 3.45 - 5.45PM NOTE ANYONE BOOKING AFTER 11TH MAY NOT RECEIVE THE RESOURCE BOX IN TIME FOR THE ONLINE SESSION (this doesn't stop participants attending the session) Boyd Education is running this course in partnership with the Design and Technology Association. COURSE STRUCTURE * 2 hour live online session plus at least 4 hrs self-directed learning activities * Online session introduces the main ideas and the self-directed activities enable participants to create a personalised CPD programme focused to follow at their own pace * Includes materials for hands-on activities during the online session * Includes materials to support the self-directed learning activities and a product sample for use in the classroom (while stocks last only - first come first served basis) * Course fee pays for one person to attend the live online session * See www.boydcreate.com/terms for T&Cs OUTCOMES * Identify how textiles fits into D&T GCSE in a way that retains its creativity & uniqueness * Develop knowledge for D&T GCSE core content that teachers may be less confident with * Develop a textiles curriculum from KS3 - 5 that embraces a broader materials approach * Strategies that embrace textile traditions as well as encouraging innovation & change CONTENT * Overview of learning in the D&T GCSE (England - all specifications) and links to KS3 * Creative activities that bring the core content to life in a way that's relevant to textiles * Particular focus on learning linked to non-textiles materials and levers/mechanisms * Ideas are suitable for a range of year groups to introduce learning or as revision activities * Using a broader materials approach to support creativity & innovation in textiles * Celebrating traditions & creativity of textiles whilst embracing new ideas * Challenging perceptions & stereotypes about what textiles is & raising its profile * Reinvigorate teaching & create a buzz about textiles * 'One size fits all' schemes of learning aren’t provided but activities/projects are provided to illustrate ideas discussed WHO MIGHT ATTEND? * Designed for textiles specialists wanting to embrace the D&T GCSE but who feel less confident in some areas of the core * Assumes some basic textiles knowledge but content is also of interest to non-specialists
