Anyone who's based on the Wirral or in the Merseyside area who wants to see what Julie gets up to in her free time can see some of her textile art work in the ’Seen Unseen: Dazzle and Camouflage’ exhibition at The Hatch art gallery at 116 Victoria Road in New Brighton (CH45 2JF) from 1st May - 28th June 2025 (open every Friday & Saturday except Sat 14th June).

The work being exhibiting is a little quirky - hand embroidery on tea strainers and sieves - with the designs all linked to the dazzle camouflage used in World War 1. This used bright colours and patterns (as well as monochrome patterns) rather than traditional camouflage with the intention of dazzling’ the enemy making it harder to estimate a target’s speed and range.
On the first Saturday of each month there’s also an artist and maker’s market in the gallery where Julie also has a stall. It’s definitely art textiles and not D&T textiles but still inspired by her love of challenging the boundaries of what textiles is.
