Hand embroidered Stainless Steel Sieve bouquet in Black Frame - Daisy (noun) To Daisy (verb) 
 
This artwork is a quirky alternative to a bouquet of flowers. A metal kitchen sieve has been decorated with felt fabric flowers hand stitched onto the surface and embellished with hand embroidery and beads. The sieve has been mounted onto black board with a clear acrylic cover and is displayed in a black frame. 
 
The sieve has been chosen as the base for the embroidery because the woven wire mesh is similar to traditional embroidery fabrics such as aida and canvas. The use of the sieve also challenges stereotypes of what embroidery techniques can be used for and how unusual materials can be combined with a traditional textiles technique.  
 
The title of this piece reflects my love of daisies, so much so that for me the word is no longer just a noun naming a type of flower but is a verb - an action, something I do, a way I feel and a bit of an obsession! I’ve had this obsession since childhood - I doodle daisies, buy the flowers, have daisy-themed items in my home and wardrobe, use daisies as a constant theme in my artwork and generally make a beeline for anything ‘daisy’. For me daisies represent hope, being carefree, vibrancy, quirkiness, fun and playfulness. It’s a way of thinking and something that helps me refocus my thoughts, acting as a calming anchor when things are challenging.
 
The frame can be hung using the hanging hook on the top of the frame.
