Stainless steel tea strainer with the dome decorated with hand embroidery stitches, beads, paper and fabric flowers and other embellishments. The strainer hangs on a silver hook inside a glass terrarium dome which is included.

Inspired by one of the artist's family members who can no longer work on her garden because of dementia, this piece captures a moment when she created her own bouquet using everlasting flowers. Carefully choosing each bloom, she arranged them to get the right mix of colours, heights and shapes. The design mirrors the colours and shapes she selected, and the choice of paper flowers reflects the delicate nature of memory. The woven metal of the strainer peeks through the embroidery stitches suggesting something hidden underneath, just as, despite the challenges of dementia, there are still times when memories and interests come back to the surface bringing great joy. The tea strainer is showcased inside a glass dome to show how special this memory is to the artist.
This embroidery is completely hand made and has taken over 30 hours to make.
